We’ve reached the milestone of supporting 100 projects. 100 green, profitable projects which touch every nation and region of the UK. To mark the moment we’ve put together a short animation and written a series of short articles on our key markets – how they’ve changed and where we see them going.
GIB officially opened for business in 2012. Since then, we’ve committed £3.4bn to 100 projects worth a total of £12bn. Those projects span the length and breadth of the UK, from the expansion of a district heating scheme in Wick to the construction of an offshore wind farm off the coast of Brighton. We’ve backed 12 different green technologies, many of which were ‘firsts’ for the UK market.
That market, including the main sectors we have supported so far – offshore wind, waste & bioenergy and distributed energy & onshore renewables – has evolved rapidly during our five years in operation. We have traced its development in a series of articles by members of the GIB team.
